OK. Before I start to reveal the five secrets to writing blog, let me be brutally honest here.
I have been seeing people complaining about their blog or articles not getting the attentions they would love to get.
Understood, since getting even a 1000 views in this digital ocean is not easy.
You have written and published many books and posted many blogs in the digital world. Many people see it, buy it, read and may also appreciate it. But how many of them, do you think, will really get back to the website and login to put a honest review?
Its not like clicking a simple like button on Social media. While the reviews on our pages do give a sort of happiness for authors like us, we should also consider that earning it is a herculean task.
All I want to convey here is, it should never let you down. Do not write for getting reviews. Write because you want to write.
Same goes for the blog, its more like you document the feeling and experience. Posting the blog and then sitting to monitoring the traffic and feeling let down if not getting what you expected is a dangerous act.
“Is it wrong to expect traffic to my blog?”
“What is the secret to get viewers in my blog?”
“I have shared in most groups I am in, but still I do not get any hits.”
If you are one who complain like above, listen.
Just because you get Whatsapp forwards from friends in the group, do not mean they will forward whatever you post in the group. Negative. Worst, they may not even look in themselves due to various reasons.
Just because you shared the link of your article in the Facebook, do not mean your friends are going to read, like & share them. Even if you have 100s of people in your friend lists, don’t be surprised if you get few 10s of likes.
You could have got 10s of likes, but not all likes would have turned into hits in your blog. Yes, they have been so kind to click the like button so not to hurt you and keep you happy.
Well, does it mean I should not target viewership? If I do not get any hits or traffic to my blog, why should I write?
If you are one who ask such question, then read on.
Let me try to drop in the five secrets that could help you to achieve that goal.
And do not miss to read this article to learn more about blog writing.
So where to get the inspiration for the blog? If you are looking for 2 to 3 topics per week, where do you get the ideas from?
When you travel everyday, be it in your closed car or in a public transport, there are many interesting events happening everyday around you.Raise your head away from your mobile, remove those headphones. Look around.
Some may pass, but few will have an impact on you. This is a rich source of inspiration.
When you get back to your place to write, list out the few incidents that impacted you. Some of them can become a blog post, and many can also die before it reaches the external world. All those post that died are the seeds and fertilizers for the other healthy post that will be sitting and shining in your blog.
The title of your blog is very important, and hence honestly spend time to come up with a good title.
Because, for your readers & people from the external world, your blog title is the key which helps them to open the door of your creative world. Whether you like it or not, there are millions of keys scattered around in this Matrix world.
Most of the readers just pick a key that they see, and do not search for your keys. So, its your responsibility to identify and handover the key to your readers. No one will be interested to grab a key if it is not attractive enough.
That is why you should spend productive time to make it as attractive as possible.
You could get your inspiration from the events and happening in daily life. But, remember we already saw that a blog should be based on a evergreen topic so that it withstands time.
So, based on the ideas you can do some research over net. You can also have an open discussion with friends to get a pulse of the topic you like to start writing.
Once you start writing, choose simple words, you are not writing a Shakespeare novel. Be your self. Make sure you create contents with smaller paragraph. You need to write for the readers. Since its your idea, its very easy to be carried away and dump all your thoughts in the post.
Once written, keep reviewing it for the grammar in your text. If needed, feel free to use add-on like grammerly or other software.
This is the important step till you are established and have regular reader subscriptions. In today’s world marketing plays a crucial role in every product sales. And your blog is also a product that you would love to sell it to your readers. How do you do this?
The easiest way to do this is to share it in your whatsapp group, facebook and other social media.
Agreed, I have listed how effective this could be in the beginning of this very same post. But, this is the best free marketing you can do without any investment.
One way to increase your presence in the social world is to participate. Join the forums and groups that is with same interest as yours or your blog. If you are writing on Travel blogs, make sure you join Facebook and other social forums and groups that has people looking for information on travels.
Look for blog sites which accepts posts from guests writers. Keep writing posts in there and pick up conversation with the participants in those sites. Most such sites allow to have a link back to your blog pages. This will help to get traffic to your blog sites.
There are other forums like Reddit, Twitter etc. You can keep participating and answering questions raised by the people in that forum. This will help to get you a presence and identification in the social world.
Finally, remember this.
Rome was not built in a day. Same goes for your blog.
Be consistent, keep writing and expand your blog lists with quality content. Make sure you write on evergreen topics so it is valid for days to come.
Continue writing without loosing faith in success. And one day, you will be a success.
Most of all, do NOT write for appreciation!
