This is my first blog as an author.
I was thinking for a while on what to write in the first post.
After all, we have been taught for long that “First impression is best impression“.
What could be a better post than explaining my reader why & how I started writing?
Yes, why did I do that?
I never wanted to write the essays given as home work at school.
Never wanted to write essays about the visits I make during school holidays. Even when it was compulsory to write about it and submit on the first day of the school.
So, why and how did I start writing now?
Simple. Now I like writing. Its my passion. Writing have always been my passion, after my school days!!
No one is asking me or forcing me to write on something.
No one advises me on what to write.
All these are OK for the debut writer who takes his own sweet time to release the first creation. What about once its completed, and published to the outside world?
Can I get this luxury, the privilege once I generate a fan base?
Do I have one? Well, I don’t know for sure. But will I? Why not?
Is it not every authors dream to have a fan base?
Is it not common for every author to be eager to hear back from his / her readers?
Negative or positive. Of course, we authors like to see positives. That does not mean we don’t want the negative reviews. Just hoping it to be a honest review that will help the next prospective buyer who is sitting on the fence unable to decide whether to take the call or not.
I published my first book called “Know your computer in 7 days” in 2004. I still remember the pains I need to go through to self publish it back in those days. Since that was my maiden attempt, I decided to write, sorry type, it all by myself. Design the cover by myself. Thanks to google and paint.net. That was the time when I started to learn that RGB was not the primary colors. Yes, you heard me right. It is CMYK.
I was running behind people to get the positive films, following up closely with the printers, looking at those big machines printing on a big paper, which was supposed to be folded and cut to find its right place in the final book. Then rush to the binders who give the final shape & life to the book.
Still remember the first sniff I took from my very first book out of printing. Hmmm…
Years past, technology change. All the pains that made me think to go slow on writing, was suddenly vanished. Thanks to the new edge platforms in publishing.
And enters the Amazon with its KDP [Kindle Desktop Publishing] literally free for any human to put out his creativity in to this world.
This made me to rethink the strategy, and re-kindled my passion to write books on Kindle.
Thus my passion which took a back seat, restarted.
In the world of mobile phones and Kindle and ebooks, I decided to write all in digital. Yes, I have finally published 4 kindle books on Amazon.
I should agree, that even today, my first book called Sudadhe in Tamil language is the best seller.
Not the New York Times best seller or other western best sellers.
Not sold million copies.
But it made me to be recognized as an author. So what else do I need.
With that book being a motivation for me I continued my writing and bingo, I have 4 of them on Amazon.
So if you are wondering which writer blogs to follow, think about it. This could be one of the contestant.
If you are into fiction book reviews, you too can follow this Indian writer blog.
Oops, I know you have very limited time to spend here, and want to spend your time more productive by reading, reading and reading books. [I promise, one day my book will decorate your coffee table… Sooonn…]
So, I stop here. And go back to my writing desk, leaving you to continue your book.
